Here are some of our favourite moments from the expansive world of the Master Chief and his epic journey through the galaxy, don’t forget to write your own best moments down in the comments!

Neil Duncan:
“It’s hard to think of a particular favourite Halo moment since there are just so many to choose from but the ending of the mission The Covenant in Halo 3 definitely comes to mind. The final stand of the Covenant at the Ark’s control centre is just a brilliant climax to a fantastic level. Destroying two Scarabs, forming an unlikely alliance with the Flood to defeat Truth, losing Keyes, the arbiter’s revenge and fighting back through the control centre once the flood turn on you – the final 10 minutes of this level just flows absolutely beautifully. On top of all this the final cinematic of the level has some of the best combination of cinematography and music from the entire series when the replacement Halo ring rises in front of the silhouetted Master Chief and Arbiter, it’s all round one of my most memorable pieces of gaming.”

Kevin McDowall

“My favourite moment is in Halo 3, near the end you find yourself nearly overrun by the deadly Covenant until you clear a landing zone for the UNSC Forward Unto Dawn, and wow it does not disappoint! The Huge ship smashes over the horizon before taking up the entire skyline with its bulk before dropping off the beastly Scorpion Tank (the first time I got to drive one). Things with an epic sense of scale are one of my favourite moments in any game, and this one is top of the impressive pile in Halo for me.”

Calum Petrie

My favourite Halo moment comes from Halo: Reach which may be strange to a lot of people. After the game being totally dominated by the incoming covenant forces it is the end of the game where players find themselves feeling the most heroic. The game focuses on Noble Squad which is host to a squad of 6 Spartan soldiers.
The small squad of Spartan soldiers fall 1 by 1 throughout the entire game when the covenant plan a massive invasion upon Reach, the team all fall in heroic and noble manners. It is the player character of squad mate Noble 6, who delivers the package onto the last ship leaving the planet and then decided to stay on the overrun planet to let them escape. The player is then left to fight as many Covenant soldiers as you can before you inevitable heroic sacrifice.
This sequence actually leads into the beginning of Halo: Combat Evolved as the ship you let escape Reach was actually the ship that housed Master Chief John 117 and Cortana.
This stand out moment in the series makes Reach one of the best Halo games to date and highly considered a fan favourite.
