Chris Liedle. is a 3D modeller and artist, or rather a “3D artist”. he’s been sharpening his craft over 8 years now, and is a self-taught 3D artist. Chris told us “It had started when I was taking by far one of my favourite high school classes during my freshman year, which was drafting.  I was introduced to all sorts of various drafting tools, formats, and other beginner techniques for students having this as their first year. It is also where I was introduced to CAD and Google Sketch up. First.First thing I can recall about CAD was that it was too restrictive for what I wanted to do. Given, I am aware that CAD is a great program, it’s just not the program that I needed. When we finally got to the portion of working with Google Sketch up, I knew that it was more of the program that I was looking for. It is a very light weight platform that doesn’t require a whole lot of fancy graphical requirements.”

From there he started his arduous journey to teach himself more about various other 3D modelling programs and to this day he still primarily uses Google Sketchup. “The main thing I know how to do in it is rig and pose the 3D models that I have made. Alas, another technical restriction, I can’t render my works in 3D Studio Max. I have to use yet another program called Keyshot. Keyshot is what makes my works shine and sparkle and actually look good.”

Chris has had his works posted up on various sites, his work can be found on his DeviantArt and his Facebook page EXO Armor Labs.

Other interests Chris has are getting out on his 29-er Mountain Bike and taking a nice cruise; up in the mountains or out on the road, he added “I’ll ride wherever I want to go. It’s a great stress relief as well, especially when getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city and getting up into the mountains where it’s you, your senses, and of course your surroundings.”

We grilled Chris a little on his love of Halo, he explained “My first memory of a Halo game was way back in 2001 or so, I was (of course) exposed to Halo: Combat Evolved on PC. It was my first ever experience playing a FPS, yea that’s right, Halo was also the first FPS game I played. I was absolutely enthralled with the gameplay and even the story. Heck, even the graphics of the time were super impressive. After my first play through and multiple failed attempts at blowing up the Pillar of Autumn’s reactors, it was then when I had realized I loved the Halo series. Everything about it was perfectly action packed but still retained a whole lot of story behind it.”

What is your favourite Halo weapon? “I would have to say it’s a good ole BR55H Battle Rifle.”

Can you tell is one of our your most cherished Halo moments? “My favourite moment in the Halo series had to be when the Chief narrowly escapes being glassed by a Covenant Carrier while on Installation 05 and in his hasty avoidance he encounters The Gravemind. It was one of those “oh my god” moments in Halo.”

Who would win a throw down between Chief and Locke? “Well, that’s a very good question. I don’t know too much about Locke, but surely he can’t stand up against a Spartan II. The Spartan II program was so carefully executed, though the method was rather crude towards the families of children who were abducted by ONI. Halsey made such of a break through with the program, and Blue team is an example of just how successful her program was. In my humble opinion, I would have to say the Master Chief is “better” than Locke.”
