The good guys over a Little Orbit have announced that as of yesterday (20 October), the all-new, real-time, fully 3D(!) action orientated adventure game Adventure Time: Finn and Jake Investigations is now available for you to get your mitts on!

The game has been developed by Vicious Cycle and while they’ve said it’s first and foremost an adventure game you will be expected to dole out some punishment as it features a combat mode.

As with previous story driven games this turns that on its head with an action-orientated twist. Players will need find and use objects (including Jake, although referring to Jake as an object seems a bit cruel to me), and interact with old and new characters to solve puzzles to progress.

You’ll get to play as Finn (although no mention of playing as Jake unfortunately), and be immersed in the Land of Ooo, you’ll find old favourites and new characters to interact with, battle evildoers (obviously, wouldn’t be a proper Adventure Time game without them), and unravel the previously mentioned puzzles. Apparently this will feel like you’ve stepped into your own personal episode of Adventure Time; although if each chapter only lasts about 20 minutes I won’t be happy.

According to the CEO of Little Orbit, Matt Scott, he said “With this title, we wanted to put players directly in the action with a truly unique 3D visual style. This is a beloved series with a loyal following and we wanted to take players to the Land of Ooo like they’ve never experienced before. In this game players will genuinely feel like they are “playing” an episode of the show.” Nice one, Matt.

Also, for the first time ever!, bonus DLC will be available in an Adventure Time console game, which features none other than Finn and Jake’s friend Marceline! She’s the Vampire Queen for those of you not in the know. Just like the previous chapters in the game, this additional chapter will play out like an episode of Adventure Time, except you’ll be taking on the persona, plus all of the magical abilities, of Marceline. You’ll be tasked with helping retake magical, but potentially dangerous, artefacts that Marceline has sold in a Yard Sale. The Marceline DLC will be available from the 27th of October, so not long to wait for that!

In addition to all the above you’ll be able to have a wander about the tree house too, which also serves as the central hub of the game. You’ll be able to have a look at multiple rooms each with their own interactive items from the show! There’ll also be a trophy room filled with the loot you gather throughout the game.

As the game is in full 3D you’ll be able to explore the kingdom like never before! Each chapter will also take you to a different kingdom, each with its own unique traits, like the Candy Kingdom being filled with sweets, so I’m sure you’ll get to see your favourite kingdom at some point. Did I mention they’d be in 3D as well?

Additionally, secret un-lockable bonus locations are scattered throughout the game and will include spooky forests and subterranean dungeons. Cue the “ooohs”, “aahhhs” and hyped fanboy/girling over this! I know I am.

Here’s a trailer for you if you’re still undecided about getting this:
