A Plague Tale: Innocence by Asobo studio is one of the most incredible success stories to come out of the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One generation. Set in 14th century France, it is a dark and gritty story about a brother and sister persecuted by the authorities as they search for their captured mother and escape a terrifying plague of killer rats that is sweeping through the kingdom. As they story unfolds and they discover some of the mysteries behind the plague and Hugo’s (the younger of the two siblings) strange affliction.
The game is a masterpiece of visual storytelling and gameplay. Beautiful graphics coupled with a brutal start and multiple mysteries make the story gripping from start to finish. In a Plague Tale: Innocence you really get the feeling of being underpowered, your only weapon being a slingshot. Staying hidden and attacking from the shadows is your best bet 99% of the time. This only adds to the tense atmosphere though. Danger lurks behind almost every corner in form of rats and human.
A Plague Tale: Requiem
We have known about A Plague Tale: Requiem for some time now and it is the next instalment in the story of Amicia and Hugo. Without spoiling the end of Innocence. A Plague Tale: Requiem continues not long after where Innocence finishes and we can see from footage and trailers released that Asobo have done a great job improving the visuals and adding further dimensions to the the gameplay. A Plague Tale: Requiem Amicia engages beast mode and Hugo’s condition worsens
Today Asobo released a new story trailer that tells us a bit more about the story and what is in store for Amicia and Hugo. And it sounds EPIC. It seems like Amicia is becoming much more of a badass, as she looks to take down opponents more often; seemingly struggling at times with the added violence. And the mystery behind Hugo’s illness and his connection the the rats deepens. Check out the story trailer below. One thing is for sure, fans of the series can be very excited for what Asobo have in store in A Plague Tale: Requiem.
