So it is fair to say we are firmly in the thralls of 2015. I was sad to see 2014 go because it was a year of good games, it was also the year I was first acquainted with my Xbox One. Though we must not dwell on the past, but look forward to the future and what lies ahead. Though more importantly what games does 2015 hold in store?

This is a list of games I am highly looking forward to above all others, now this is just purely my opinion so please feel free to leave a comment with your top games. Even leave feedback if you agree or disagree with what I am saying.

#4 – Halo 5: Guardians

OK so this might be a little boring to a lot of people, but I am excited about another instalment of Master Chief and what lies ahead. With the release of the Master Chief collection reminding me how much we have been through with this protagonist it is only fair that I take up my controller and continue on the fight.

I love the music in the Halo games and hoping that Guardians will have a soundtrack that can stand up against the rest of the Halo titles to date. There has also been a lot of effort to bring Agent Locke to our attention (if you have watched Halo Nightfall or the new cut scenes for Halo 2 in the MCC) we will find out exactly what role this Agent has in the grand scheme of Halo 5. Though more importantly ….. has Master Chief made a promise he couldn’t keep?

#3 – Star Wars Battlefront

It has been 10 years since the release of Star Wars Battlefront 2, with many gamers feeling cheated by so many poor imitations from other IP’s of the formula that Battlefront gave us. Though now we see the formula getting a major upgrade and brought into the modern generation, and with a multiplayer pedigree at the development such as DICE we have extremely high expectations. The major question is, can the game be as good 10 years on?

Star Wars Battlefront was a game where I could sit with friends and take over the galaxy or liberate it, but I always remember having fun while playing it. It was a game that if you were not even in the mood to play it you still found you mood changed once the game stared up. Many evenings that turned to days, days that turned to weeks (and so on) were spent playing this simple idea for a game; and I loved it. So with hopefully no major changes to how things operate, and everything should be alright.

#2 – Kingdom Hearts 3

Jury is still out wither this is actually going to be coming to existence this year or not, but I am excited to play this game regardless if it is this year or 5 years down the line from now. The whole premise of Kingdom Hearts should not work, it is the love child of Square Enix and Disney who happened to share an office building once upon time (couldn’t help myself). The idea of combining Final Fantasy with Disney characters should not ever work, and yet it can only be described as one of the best story arcs ever created in a insanely complicated story.

We return to the adventures of Sora, Donald and Goofy and see where the Keyblade will take them next on their journey. For people who have followed the overall story to date will know of the Keyblade Mastery exam and if Sora and Riku will be next to undertake the tasks to become true Keyblade masters (because the adventures of the previous games have not proven them enough???). Also with Kingdom Hearts finally being released on the Xbox title, it is an exciting time to get back into the story.

#1 – Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

I will put it out there, I love the Witcher 2. It was a masterpiece of a game, it has the gritty story and the complicated politics to keep me invested in a RPG. The world is something that seems natural and with gameplay mechanics that are different to the majority of games on the market, this is a series that is under rated no matter how much publicity it will receive.

We return to Geralt who is now dealing with the legendary Wild Hunt, as the name suggests. The adventure will now take place in a massive open world where we are free to explore anywhere of our pleasing, and I am going to enjoy every moment of it. I have seen this game at any given opportunity and I am not going to say anything along the lines of “I hope its great” or “Hopefully it won’t disappoint” because of one thing. That one thing is ….. I know it is good, I have seen videos of gameplay and I am not afraid at all that this game is going to be nothing short of remarkable. I do not care that it has already been delayed, all that means is more time and polish for a game that will be outstanding.

Thank you for reading my list and I would love to hear from anyone and everyone about their most anticipated games of the year ahead.

Feel free to tweet me @Cetrie on twitter or comment below.

Thank you everyone.
