When I saw this announcement I got very very excited. Dark Souls is a game so wonderfully horrific and yet at the same time fulfilling and rewarding. I have never heard a Dark Souls fan asking for less Dark Souls and this is for a very good reason: FROM software have created a vibrant and solid world – whether it is Lordran or Drangleic the exploration grasps you. The games contain some of the greatest stories ever told in computer games, but are delivered with very little to no dialogue whatsoever, which means exploration and speculation drive your curiosity and make you forge your own path in the game.
So this week it was announced that a Game of the Year edition of Dark Souls 2 will be seeing a release. The edition will contain the following: Dark Souls 2 the game, all 3 episodes of the Lost Crowns trilogy, and all new content exclusive to the edition. This is due for release April 15th 2015 for Xbox 360 and for the first time ever in the series Xbox One. So time to dust off the armour and see Dark Souls through the Xbox One perspective, and watch what next gen Dark Souls looks like. The Game of the Year edition is titled “Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin”.
With this release of Dark Souls 2: Scholar of the First Sin, we can expect FROM Software to deliver some exciting and harrowing gameplay with the series’ trademark punishment. So let’s travel back to the land where souls may mend your ailing mind and once again be branded with the darksign and be cursed as an undead. Lets explore Drangleic once again with a fresh and new perspective of a next generation console and fall in love with the series all over again, just because we can.
What or who is the Scholar of the First Sin? This is a question I will look forward to answer, and to enjoy the pain, fear and agony that the adventure will take me on. I shall enjoy retracing my steps and finding new footing in the unexplored lands that shall be opened up on my journey of Drangleic, wither I choose to continue on Xbox 360 or brave new waters on the Xbox One.
So expect to hear more on this game between now and release on April 15th.
