So Destiny has been out for almost 2 weeks at this point, and whether or not you’re a fan of what Bungie had finally put out, there’s no doubt that it’s been a successful and popular release. A lot of gamers are also streaming their experiences on Twitch, most likely because of the functionality on both of the new consoles making it extremely easy to share your gaming experiences with the entire world.

Though it’s still new, Destiny content on Twich has been viewed nearly 20 million times just in the first week, with fans watching almost 240 MILLION minutes of gameplay. That’s a hell of a lot for any game, let alone the console scene. Twitch’s VP of Marketing, Matthew DiPetro also stated that “Our passionate community of broadcasters attracted more than 5 million unique viewers in the first week.” That’s a lot of people watching content, no matter how you slice it.

David Dague, Community Manager at Bungie has also been talking about the community that Bungie has been taking care of during their reign over Halo, and they’re continually impressed with the way that community “…has always blown us away with their desire to share, entertain, and inspire.” He also wants the community to know that they’re watching, laughing and applauding at home in Bungie HQ, and seem to be rather pleased with the attention Destiny has been getting, and how the fans have been reacting to their latest release.

It’s still early in Destiny’s life, but it seems that it may be with us for a long time, and the community may not peter out as quickly as some previous multiplayer focused games. There’s plenty of content on the horizon, and with the first raid taking almost 12 hours to finish, there’s a lot for people to focus on in the coming weeks and months. I can’t wait to finally jump in with everyone.
