Formerly teased as Assassin’s Creed Comet, the new title in the franchise that’s coming to the previous generation of consoles has been properly announced as Assassin’s Creed: Rogue, which will be available on the Xbox 360 on the 11th of November this year.
Currently being developed by Ubisoft Sofia in collaboration with the Ubisoft studios in Sinapore, Montreal, Quebec, Chengdu, Milan and Bucharest (they have that many studios?!) Assassin’s Creed Rogue will put the player in the 18th Century during the Seven Years War. You’ll be exploring new locations across North America, including the North Atlantic while Frozen, the Appalachian River Valley and New York.
The main character for this entry, however, is a Templar named Shay Patrick Cormac, and has apparently suffered through the Brotherhood’s betrayal that will transform him into an assassin. Though the wording of this is a bit weird, it seems that you might actually have a good majority of the game where you won’t actually be an assassin.
Rogue will also enhance previous games Naval components, which were popularly introduced in Assassin’s Creed 3 and completely fleshed out in Black Flag. You’ll be using a ship called the Morrigan to hunt down Assassins.
This game seems to be wrapping up the stories in North America that have been fleshed out in the 3rd and 4th games in the franchise, meaning this is probably the last time we’ll be seeing anything set around Connor and his family. It’s also said that while fans asked for a new game for the previous generation console, they have been requesting a game where you play as a Templar. This could be a very interesting and different game in the entire franchise.
There will be a collectors edition available, and of course, pre-order bonuses for those who wish to secure their copy early. Have a look at the announcement trailer below.
