In a world of being online at all times is near enough an essential, when Xbox Live goes off you go into a minor freak out. Yesterday, in my home, it was so difficult to believe that Xbox Live had gone down again that I took to believe that my routers were at issue and turned them all off and began the network test to see why I’d suddenly become Gold-less; but no it was certainly Xbox Live once again (within two weeks) stumbling and falling off leaving a large number of users in the dark.
VentureBeat are also suffering similar problems and investigated this issue to find out what was going on. They contacted Microsoft for an answer and received this response.
“Xbox Live is experiencing temporary service interruptions with Xbox One and Xbox 360 social and gaming features,” a Microsoft spokesperson said. “Our engineering teams are working quickly to fix the problem, and we expect service to be back to full performance as soon as possible. We will update you as soon as Xbox Live is up and running and appreciate your patience as we work to get you back to your gaming and entertainment experiences. In the meantime, our apologies for the interruption.”
As you can see this really isn’t an answer, more of an auto-response and the chances are we’ll never know if the issue is related to server downtime to increase the hardware strength for more gamers or because a pigeon flew into the server housing and died. What we do know is that even if it’s five minutes or an hour losing our connection to Xbox Live isn’t what we come to expect from our subscription based service and especially not three times in two weeks.
Were you affected by the outages? What would you like to say to the people over at Xbox Live about these growing number of drops in service?
