As an Xbox enthusiast, there has been a lack of JRPG games to sink my teeth into. My youth was growing up playing games like the Final Fantasy series, in my 20’s not so much. I could put this down to possibly letting my tastes change, but I believe its just my preferred choice of platform.
As we stand on the edge of a new console generation, Xbox has certainly changed in the past generation. The push to acquire new studios and break new ground has been hard. Now at the tail end of the generation we have a classic JRPG series making its way to the platform. It may be a little later than hoped for. Here we have Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age
Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age is coming to Xbox One. Not only is it coming to Xbox One, it will be landing on Game Pass Ultimate and be an Xbox Play Anywhere title. We really should have an easier way of saying all that.
The game does not actually release on Xbox One until December 4th 2020. There is a Demo available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 now.
The latter I imagine is for people who have yet to take the dive into the original game yet.
The demo will be a showcase for new features that are exclusive to the Definitive Edition of the game. The ability to speed up battles, switch between English and Japanese audio as well as a lot of other features.
The demo will allow players up to 10 hours in game, which gives a lot of hands on time. The game will start from its opening and players will be allowed to carry over their progress to the main game when it drops 4/12/2020. This is a god send as nobody wants to replay an entire 10 hours of content straight away again.
So for veterans of the genre returning, or for the people wanting to dip their toe into the vast ocean of JRPG’s, this is your time to start.
Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age, will launch on Xbox One, Xbox Game Pass and PlayStation 4 December 4th 2020.
