If you’ve kept up with the hype of Watch Dogs then this is a topic that you’ll definitely be familiar with, though I’m going to give you new evidence that’s recently surfaced since the launch of the game.
Now admittedly I don’t know too much about Watch Dogs, I only found out about this possibility a few hours ago and then decided to do some research into it. For me Watch Dogs was a bit of a “meh” game, I didn’t get on the hype train because it just wasn’t what I was looking for at the time and I just couldn’t get excited about it, to me it looked like GTA with hacking, and whilst I know now that there is much more to the game I’m still unsure if I’ll pick it up, these new revelations however have caught my attention.
Now the first thing that ties these two franchises together is in AC4, Black Flag, where you walk over to your neighbours computer and hack it, you’ll find a document that mentions the “CToS” which is being built or designed by Absertgo and is the main software system that runs Chicago in watch dogs. This video touches base on that and shows the reaction of AC4 director Ash Ismail when questioned about the two games relationship:
Then of course there’s this screenshot of the game that was released early, which bares what seems to be an Assassins Symbol.
But like I said, if you’ve been following watch dogs closely then you already knew all this, so here comes the fresh evidence since the games release. Players have been stumbling upon “Easter Eggs” which, in my opinion, tie the games respective universe’s together very closely
There could be a lot more where that came from. Now I’ve heard a lot of mixed emotions about this on the internet, a lot of people would really love it if the games sort of came together, perhaps a future title blend the two permanently… I can imagine it now “watch creed” … or “assassins dogs” (of course I’m being satirical about the name), others on the other hand were looking for something fresh and it’s kind of bummed them out. Well I’m on the side of the collaborators: I think it would be thoroughly awesome if these two games, and perhaps other Ubisoft titles, (if I don’t mention Far Cry here then someones going to kill me, so yes, that too, I haven’t played it myself though) were to come together on some sort of joint game, it’d make me get enthusiastic about Ubisofts other titles and perhaps buy them. It’d be like a videogame, or more accurately a Ubisoft-Avengers, and I say this because it has worked so well for Marvel’s cinematic universe.
I LOVE cameos in movies, and cameo Easter Eggs in games, I love it when different series or heroes blend together or join forces for a common goal, one of the reason why I think the Avengers was so successful was because it blended not only different, respected and already established heroes together but different genres as well, Sci-Fi, Fantasy-Magic, Thriller and Military, into one entertainment experience. Though granted these heroes were already connected in comics, one could say that’s what makes Marvel comics so great too, that blend of absolute mayhem, I’ve been wanting that to happen in a game for so long, but developers are so wary of mashing titles. Why did I say all that? Does it seem a little off topic? Well in Assassins Creed you have those mysterious ancient beings, “Precursors,” the pieces of Eden and all that magical/sci-fi stuff that some people think would be out of place in the Watch Dogs universe, I haven’t played the game myself but I see no reason why the games can’t co-inside because of this. My point is that some people would of said it’d be ridiculous to put magic wielding gods in the same place as Iron-Man, I bet those people are feeling pretty stupid now. If not Watch Dogs and Assassins Creed, then someone for the sake of humanity should invent some interesting, albeit separated gaming series and bring them together.
