Ahead of the release of Ubisoft’s fairy tale-inspired title, a new trailer has been released showing the story and the stunning visuals in Child of Light.

This latest trailer shows the beauty of the world of Lemuria. The game guides the player through the “painted” world of Lemuria as Aurora; a child on a quest to return home but must face an array of monsters, mystical creatures and challenges on the way. It is also up to Aurora to release the sun, the mood and the stars from captivity.

Child of Light has been compared to titles such as Final Fantasy and LIMBO, and from this trailer it is easy to see similarities to the latter in particular. The character movement is so fluid and delicate; the way Aurora flows from one platform to another is absolutely beautiful. The art style is also pretty mysterious and intriguing in that the environment looks like an oil painting, effectively rendering Child of Light an interactive painting.

Most of the developers of Child of Light have previously worked on Far Cry 3 and it has been developed on Ubisoft’s UbiArt Framework, the same engine used for Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends. I for one am excited to get my hands on this game!

Child of Light is available on Xbox 360 and Xbox One from 30/04/14.
