With the continuing surge of rumours and leaks about the upcoming Assassins Creed: Unity, new information has been leaked about the other AC game, Assassins Creed: Comet.
It has been reported by Videogamer that the setting for Comet is Ancient Rome. As those who have played the franchise will know, Assassins Creed 2 and Brotherhood were set in the city of Rome, but the emphasis for Comet is that it will be during Ancient Rome.
The game title as well might suggest that this is the setting for the game, since it may be referring to Caesar’s Comet; a major event in Roman history that saw one of the brightest recorded comets pass by the Earth at the time of Caesar’s death. The comet also spawned a cult known as the “Temple of the Comet Star”.
This piece of information, which sparked the rumour of Comet’s setting was found during an interview with Jade Raymond, Ubisoft Toronto head:
“There is an additional element of getting to relive and play a role in these pivotal moments in history. We work with historians to create these societies – Ancient Rome, the French Revolution. And, because each game is crafted in a new era, players don’t get tired of it”
In an article published on this site, it was mentioned that Assassins Creed: Comet would be set in North America and that you would be playing as a Templar rather than an Assassin. The information was soured from Kotaku and the rumours they tend to post on their site are usually accurate.
Assassins Creed: Comet will be coming to the last-gen consoles and is looking to be released around the same time as Unity.
As it stands the information has not been confirmed yet, but we will keep you updated here at XBLG.
