There has been a rumour floating around about whether or not there was some sort of secret additional graphics processing unit, hidden away somewhere within the Xbox One console. Well, I am here to announce to you all, that Microsoft’s director of product planning, Albert Penello, has categorically denied such a rumour.
@J_Martinez2012 @thuway @PNF4LYFE I thought I had already said something about that. There is no 2nd GPU, there is no stacked GPU.

This rumour was originally started by a mystery user named “MisterXMedia”, who claimed that this was true. In addition to the tweet, Penello took to Reddit and announced that:
“I didn’t think it was festering because I thought I’d already commented on it. For some reasons the DX12 announce seemed to make it resurface”
This was to explain his silence on the subject matter. As well as that, he explained that he sees a lot of things on other sites that might convey false information and that if he sees anything on Reddit, he tries to correct it.
“My intention is not to give or take credibility from anyone. I’m just trying to set the record straight”
He also cautioned readers of his comments and tweets against deducing too much from his movements on the internet:
“You can’t read anything into what I comment on or don’t. I’m not a PR guy, and I don’t have as much time to read and digest every piece of news – so I’m sporadic in things I reply to”
It appears that all of this has followed from the unveiling of Microsoft’s new graphics API, DirectX12 on Thursday. The benefits of this will filter down to Xbox One games though not before 2015. As well as this, the confusion over whether or not Xbox One will achieve 1080p resolution has been addressed by the Xbox Director, Boyd Multerer. He has said that achieving a native 1080p resolution on Xbox One will get easier in time as developers optimise their code.
So, with everything cleared up I think it’s time to look forward to the actual developments of the console and not deducing whether there are some hidden compartments inside the console that users are unaware of.
