If you’re a fan of all things Alien like me, this Sega and Creative Assembly creation is looking bang on the money to capture the feel and mood of Ridley Scott’s haunted house in space perfectly. I think they also deserve huge kudos to be pushing this one down the single player only path without even so much as a hint of multi-player.

They’re also doing a great job of keeping a constant feed of information flowing, be it Q&A, screengrabs, playthroughs (just search for alien isolation on twitter to see the reactions from GDC) and in this case in the past week their latest Insider Video, Creating the Alien that you can watch below.

If you’ve somehow missed any talk of the game so far, Alien: Isolation is a survival horror set in an atmosphere of constant dread and mortal danger. Fifteen years after the events of Alien™, Ellen Ripley’s daughter, Amanda enters a desperate battle for survival, on a mission to unravel the truth behind her mother’s disappearance.

For privacy reasons YouTube needs your permission to be loaded.

The game itself is really shaping up to be a dangerous and deadly game of cat and mouse and more importantly a hugely refreshing change to the bombast and feel of previous games in the xenomorphs universe.

As Amanda, you’ll navigate through an increasingly volatile world as you find yourself confronted on all sides by a panicked, desperate population and an unpredictable, ruthless Alien.

Underpowered and underprepared, you must scavenge resources, improvise solutions and use your wits, not just to succeed in your mission, but to simply stay alive.

It sounds like Dead Space but with even more limited resources, and all from a terrifying first person perspective too.  It also sounds pretty hardcore in that respect too, especially if the AI of the alien is everything Creative Assembly are mooting it to be.  Watching the in-game videos alone is enough to give me the heebie-jeebies!

On that front too, if the Insider Trailer above has whetted your appetite to know more about the Alien, then Creative Assembly have the first of their podcast series, PRIORTY ONE: Audio Log 001 – 1976NEC, coming up shortly where Lead Game Designer, Gary Napper, Animator, Simon Ridge and Programmer, Tobias Kleanthous will chat more about what to expect and what’s involved in bringing this monster to life.

As well as getting to know the studio leads and their roles in Alien: Isolation, Creative Assembly are also giving fans the chance to ask them about the game. So, if you’ve been desperate to ask a Xenomorph-related question for some time, then this is the perfect chance.

You can send your questions to [email protected] with the subject title: PRIORITY ONE: Creating the Alien, before 11:59PM GMT, on the 23rd March, 2014. The best questions will be put to the studio leads in the podcast!
