The April update for the Xbox One seems to have begun rolling out for Beta Participants and includes some of the features that fans have been waiting for on the Xbox One. This update includes friends notifications, 50 Hz support for blu-rays and improvements for Kinect voice and motion controls. There is more in this, but it’s likely that they are minor fixes and changes that we’ll see improve just before the update is out for the general public.
Friends Notifications will allow users to see when their favourites list sign in to Xbox Live, ala the way the Xbox 360 worked from the start. According to Microsoft, it was a made a priority for this update as it one of the most requested features that users had asked for on the Xbox One after the first preview update happened.
This update will also identify friends in multiplayer games in the friends list, as well as introducing the ability to see people’s most popular apps. So you can see how much Netflix or Twitch people actually watch. Another change that appears in the Games and Apps section of the dashboard will introduce a save progress bar to show the status of the game saves, as well as making it easier for users to view recent and current updates made to any games and apps.
These are just a few details on the features that have appeared in this update, and it appears that Microsoft will be sending out more invitations to these beta updates going forwards. It seems that Microsoft are keen to make the Xbox One the console that everyone wants, improving and adding things that the fans and consumers are asking for.
