GS: TD was crowd-funded through a Kickstarter campaign back in 2012 with a goal of $150,000 which was met within a short space of time. It was then released on Steam and Gog.com just a few months after the campaign ended followed by Xbox 360, PS3 and Wii U in 2013.
The game follows the story of Giana as she tries to save her sister Maria from a dragon that has held her captive in a dream world. This jump ‘n’ run puzzle game has one stand-out gameplay mechanic which allows the player to switch between the dream world and the “real” world.
As well as being one of the biggest success stories in the crowd-funding gaming market, GS: TD and the stand-alone add-on Rise of the Owlverlord have won the following awards:
- German Developer Award “Best Youth Game 2013”
- Casual Connect Indieprize Showcase Award “Best Audio 2013”
- German Children Software Award Tommi “Best Computer Game 2013”
- German Developer Award “Best Sound 2012”
- Demonews Game of the Year Award “Best Jump n Run and Puzzle Game 2012”
Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is available for download on Xbox Live.
