Ever since Microsoft have announced that Xbox One’s will sell across the UK at £399.99, retailers have taken it upon themselves to price their consoles even less! Gamestop UK priced their bundles at £369.99, 30 pound cheaper than the official price cut introduced by Microsoft. It is no wonder that their bundles have all sold out.
Maplin UK have now taken it upon themselves to better that offer by pricing their consoles at £349.99! This AMAZING deal has now priced the Xbox One Consoles sold by Maplin UK at the same cost as PS4 Consoles. Bear in mind that PS4 have yet to reduce the costs and has remained the same price since launch. This price cut marks the first time that Microsoft’s shiny new box has been available at the same amount of money as a PS4.
The retail listing by Maplin UK shows that the Xbox One is currently out of stock at this price, but that more will be available shortly. Bear in mind that this is NOT an official price cut made by Microsoft, rather an endeavour taken on by Maplin.
Since Gamestop started the trend of undercutting further the prices of their consoles after the official price cut by Microsoft, many other retailers followed suit. It wasn’t long after the Gamestop price cut that Amazon decided to offer their consoles at £399.99 which included the console, FIFA 14 and Fighter Within as an alternative to the Titanfall bundle. Even at £399.99 that is a bargain!
It seems as though that by Microsoft introducing an official price cut in the UK on the Xbox One, this has given retailers the license to follow suit. This is in no way a bad thing at all. I would be happy to see the different retailers compete with one another to continue to undercut the prices of Xbox One consoles…. but, that is just me.
While it is still uncertain as to how well the consoles are selling in the UK, Sony have stated that for every Xbox One console, 1.5 PS4 consoles are being sold. I don’t know but I am not sure if you can really buy 0.5 of a PS4 console…… Do they just give you the console with no controllers or leads?
Just kidding, I know it is based on sales figures….
At the moment, global sales figures for the PS4 stand at 6 million while sales figures for the Xbox One haven’t been updated since January. 3 million units were sold to consumers by the end of last year, though 3.9 million have been shipped to retailers. Now, judging from those figures… if the sales figures for the Xbox One have yet to be updated and it had 3 million sold by the end of last year… I would say that Microsoft are doing just fine.
So, keep an eye out on the Maplin UK website for when the £349.99 consoles come back in stock. You don’t want to miss out on a bargain like that!
