The gaming residents of South Africa are in a state of mourning today as their pre-orders of Titanfall are being cancelled.

Initially reported by the SS Clan and brought to the attention of Mweb Gamezone a rather disheartening email from Origin had begun to appear across South Africa.
The reason appears to be down to the poor performance rates (bad ping) for users in South Africa would impact greatly upon what the users experienced; especially as Titanfall will be Cloud-based and would need a constant open, clear communication with the game to run smoothly. Desmond Kutz of Mweb Gamezone has investigated what could be the performance issues that are causing the poor ping rates, which have in turn stopped the sales of Titanfall.
“Some of the Titanfall traffic was being picked up as P2P when we were monitoring traffic on the game, so when updates are done (which is probably the P2P traffic), it might drag your traffic down a bit. We’ve mapped the game connection info though and added it to the gaming signatures, so certainly on an MWEB connection, all the Titanfall traffic should the top priority on the network that gaming normally gets. Not on MWEB, you might expect a little lag after updates.”
So for the foreseeable future the residents in South Africa will but without Titanfall, but we’ll keep you updated as an hopefully when this changes.
You have our condolences.
