AC5 – Russian Setting?

Being the HUGE Assassins Creed fan that I am, I am always trying to keep everything a secret i.e. settings, characters, whether Desmond is alive or not etc. But, these rumours of where the next Assassins Creed will take place are simply mind boggling.

First, we had the idea that it will be set in Feudal Japan

This was everyone’s favourite choice. I mean a Samurai Assassin.

Next, we had the idea that it will be set in Ancient Egypt

How that would work I wouldn’t know; a viewpoint on the top of Giza perhaps?

Then, we had an idea that maybe it will be set in the Wild West

This particular setting wouldn’t be of any interest to me since we already had Red Dead Redemption, which let’s face it, was about exacting revenge against other parties; similar to the Assassin v Templar fight going on.

In a recent interview with Adweek, Jade Raymond, Managing Director of Ubisoft Totronto announced that:

“While a historical Japanese setting would be a “cool idea”, there are no plans in the works for anything like it”

So, that says it all. Maybe the setting won’t be Japan for this instalment, but perhaps in the future.

She continued to say that:

“When we’re building a franchise, we’re thinking of a whole universe and how we’re developing a meta-story that could live on for many years in games and TV”

This statement makes me think that there are plenty of ideas floating around Ubisoft’s office, and that this means many more Assassin Creed games to come.

However, what about this rumour about a Russian Setting for AC5?

It has been rumoured that the new AC instalment will be called Assassins Creed V: Great Fall and will come out late this year. But, if these were all rumours then why have a character called Nikolai Orelov on Assassins Creed: Initiates website?

In fact, this is the only character on that site that has no information about his origins or his backstory. There are only three images, one of which might put all these rumours to rest.
