Sad news today as Ken Levine announced his intentions to wind down Irrational Games, the company behind Big Daddy, Song Bird and Rapture. The 17 year old company has seen it’s fortunes rise over this time and with big franchises such as Bioshock under its belt perhaps Ken Levine feels it is best to go out on a high note.
With the question of what is next for Ken on everyone’s lips, he wrote in his statement that he intends to, “To make narrative-driven games for the core gamer that are highly replayable. To foster the most direct relationship with our fans possible, we will focus exclusively on content delivered digitally.” With a role to play at Take-Two I’m happy to say we haven’t seen the last of Mr Levine.
With the last of the Bioshock Infinite DLC set to be the last thing Irrational produce we can’t help but wipe a tear from our eyes and thank everyone at Irrational for the wonderful and exhilarating experiences they have brought us.
