Garry Newman of Garry’s Mod and Rust fame tweeted today about received an Xbox One Dev Kit. Garry’s Mod which started life as a Modification for Half-Life 2, is a game where you can play around with models and characters from all of Valves game, creating weird contraptions and generally playing around with the world, spawning popular game modes such as Prop Hunt. This could mean a whole slew of things, but we know for sure it means that Garry will be, or currently is, working to get something on the new console, possible within the ID@Xbox program, which allows Indie Devs to self publish on the Xbox One Platform.

While this doesn’t necessarily mean that Garry’s Mod will come to Xbox, it is a possibility that the currently in-development Survival game Rust may make it’s way onto consoles. Rust was imagined by the Garry’s Mod developer to be a “better” version of DayZ, which has already taken more than 3 months longer than they originally anticipated. It’s blowing up on the PC platform Steam at the moment and a lot of people are excited about what they game will become when it’s actually finished.

It’s all very interesting, and it’s good to see that the Xbox platform may be getting some well known PC Developers joining in on the potential fun. It means console owners can get a glimpse into a world that PC Users have known for a long time.
