Sherlock Holmes is back again with a new game called Crimes & Punishments: This is Sherlock Holmes by Frogwares studios and Focus Home Interactive. In this rendition of the most iconic detectives, you see Sherlock in a stunning and faithful representation: his eccentric personality, his manners and, above all, the many remarkable gifts which he is famous for. All of those traits scream to me as a combination of Robert Downey Jnr., Benedict Cumberbatch and Jonny Lee Miller’s depiction of the character. A match made in heaven if you ask me….. but you didn’t.

Moving on with the news, Crimes and Punishments is a game that has moved from its in-house engine to the Epic Unreal Engine 3. What this enables is a much richer, more immersive and detailed rendering of both environments and characters. In addition to the improved graphics the game can now offer 14 game mechanics!! From the opening of each of the six investigations up to the arrest of the culprits and the moral dilemmas faced by the players, the new game mechanics convey the feeling of BEING Sherlock Holmes. Players will therefore be able to exploit the incredible gifts and talents for which he is renowned, such as his ability to guess the details of an individual’s life simply by observing them, or to imagine and reconstruct a past event by studying the key features of a crime scene.

The game has six main cases that you have to solve, and it is up to YOU on how that turns out. You will be able to accuse different guilty parties from among your list of suspects and determine their fate: will you absolve them of their crime, or will you enforce justice?

The video below is a sneak peak of some of the new features that this game has to offer. It perfectly depicts Sherlock’s eccentricity, his extraordinary detective talents, his ability to connect unrelated clues to deduce facts, his skill to imaging and reconstruct a past event by observing the key detail of a crime scene and….. most importantly…… the new in-game “deduction board”! Let’s just say, you won’t need that pen and paper anymore.
