So the past few days have seen a lot of rumors floating around regarding Xbox One and games coming out for it. It’s exciting news, especially if they’re all true, and could mean that Xbox and Microsoft have a very good end of year ahead of them.
First up, Halo rumor time. 2014 marks the 10th Anniversary of Halo 2, and much like what happened on the original’s 10th birthday, it is rumored that the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition will come out this year on November the 11th. It’s said to include the beta to Halo 5, reminding us of Crackdown and the Halo 3 Beta all those years ago. Speaking of Halo 3, there’s also a rumored “War Collection” version of Halo 2 Anniversary, supposedly containing Xbox One ports of Halo 3 and Halo 4. Talk about bang for your buck. A Live Action series is also said to be included, but this isn’t the Steven Spielberg Show that was announced at E3. It’s an interesting little rumor that originated on NeoGAF, and if it’s true, could mean that we’re all in for some old-school fun on this new generation.
This same NeoGAF post also links to Crackdown 3 being in development for the Xbox One to be released in 2016. While these rumors surrounded Ruffian Games in Dundee, they weren’t squashed when they announced their previous title had been re-branded to Game of Glens and is seeking votes for the Square Enix Collective Project. It’s unclear about this one, but it’s strange how this one seems to live after this announcement. The previous Crackdown games were pretty fun, but didn’t exactly bring in the cash for Microsoft or the now dead original developer Realtime Worlds.
Next Up, new consoles. There have been three interesting rumors floating around on new skews of the Xbox One console coming out by the end of the year. The first of these is a Titanfall Branded Xbox One, much like the controller that was revealed not long ago. Read about the controller here. It’s very nice looking, and would most likely come with the game itself. This comes after the announcement of a Beta for Xbox One owners and many other little tidbits of news for the upcoming release. It’s getting everyone all excited and it’s no surprise why.
The next new console rumor is a white version, much like the development version, will be available this year for consumers. It’s a very nice looking console, and if you’re not keen on the black, it might be the one for you. Among this, is the rumor that there will also be a disc-less version with a huge 1 Terabyte hard drive. This would be fantastic for those who want to go purely digital this generation and it could be the step that Microsoft were initially looking for when they announced the thing before they switched their DRM policies.
Well, that’s all of the rumors that have cropped up over the past couple of days, and it’s a very exciting time. Be aware, these are rumors and should be treated as such, but it could be a good indicator of where Microsoft and the Xbox One are heading if they turn out to be true. So what do you think?
