Set in the late 18th century the new game will be set after the events of Samurai Shodow V. But will take place before the original Samurai Shodown. The classic beat-em’ up will feature returning chracters such as as Haohmaru and Earthquake. As well as the debut of three new characters additional characters will also be joining the roster as DLC.

The reboot is also being powered by the Unreal 4 engine. This will see gameplay updated with crisp 3-D models and sharp textures. This shift aims to bring the series up-to date with current graphical standards, whilst keeping the classic fantasy Samurai look of the series.

Developed in house by SNK, Samurai Shodown will feature a wealth of modes such as, Story, Practice, Online Battle and multiple Offline Battle modes. The new game will also feature a Dojo mode that captures your playstyle to create a ghost Avatar. This Avatar can then be uploaded so other players can challenge you in 1-v-1 battles or take on the 100 Ghost Ironman Challenge.

Samurai Shodown will be coming to Xbox One sometime in June
