It was way back in January of 2015 that we got our first experience of playing a first-person zombie survival shooter with parkour style movement. The game’s developers Techland publishing blended these two genres and created a totally new beast with Dying light. Four years later the title is still going strong showing an increase on this year’s sales from last year.

There’s nothing like nailing a wall-run to dropkick on some zombie scum!

You could soon be mowing down zombies in your buggy with a Rocket League skin from the Anniversary event
A big part of this success is down to the fact that Techland have been supporting the game and it’s nearly 16 million players for the whole 4 years. Regular in-game events, The Following expansion pack and a series of free content drops via their 10-in-12 program have all gone down well with the community. The company CEO certainly thinks that communication with the players and fans is vital:
“Our tactics of constant community engagement and iteration based on direct feedback from our core players has been integral to this success – taking care to exceed the expectations of those fans and improve the game over time doesn’t just make existing players happy, it infects new audiences too.” – Paweł Marchewka
To mark the anniversary this year they are going to launch a new event which will see double XP points up for grabs, as well as new and unique legacy items such as the Rocket League Buggy skin. Check out the trailer below that was made with the input of some community content creators:
