We previously touched on Amazon’s assistant Alexa and Microsoft’s very own Cortana getting speaker support with the Xbox One and now it seems like that reality is finally coming true. Xbox Insiders in the US are the first to test out the new integration.
Once signed in and set up with your Amazon account it’ll connect to your console online. There’s no need for either an Echo or a Harman/Kardon Invoke however as you’ll also be able to to use a mobile app on Android and iOS phones as well as on your Windows 10 PC.
You’ll be able to adjust your volume, launch apps, games and even take clips, screenshots and start your streaming on Mixer with voice commands.
It’s important to stress that this is in beta and only available to US residents at this time but we should hopefully see this new speaker skill roll out to other regions as Microsoft rolls out it’s next major OS release, ‘Redstone 5’ later on in the year.
MS if you’re truly listening to feedback, just add that Phillips Hue Light Sync and a voice command script in there and I’ll be further a happy bunny.
