Join us in celebrating the career of Peter Connelly, a talented composer and sound designer who has left an indelible mark on the video game industry.

Once upon a time, there was a young composer named Peter Connelly who had a passion for video games and a talent for composing and sound design. In September 1998, after a few years at various other companies, he landed his dream job at Derby-based studio Core Design, a subsidiary of UK video game publisher Eidos Interactive. There, he worked on the legendary action-adventure series Tomb Raider, starting with sound design on Tomb Raider: Adventures of Lara Croft and later as composer and sound designer for Tomb Raider: The Last Revelation and Tomb Raider: Chronicles.

His crowning achievement came when he co-wrote, with Martin Iveson, the score for Tomb Raider: The Angel of Darkness, which was performed by the London Symphony Orchestra at Abbey Road Studios. He also worked on other commercial games such as Herdy Gerdy, Smart Bomb, and Free Running whilst at Core Design.

Peter’s first role at Ubisoft was as a senior sound designer at Ubisoft Reflections, where he worked on the hit racing game Driver: San Francisco. He then worked as audio lead and composer on both Watch Dogs and The Crew, followed by various other projects within Ubisoft, including Assassin’s Creed: Identity, Champions of Anteria and South Park: The Fractured but Whole. Soon after, he served as senior sound designer and audio lead at Slightly Mad Studios working alongside the legendary Stephen Baysted. These experiences further showcase his versatility as a composer and sound designer in the gaming industry.

Peter Connelly and Andy Sandham worked together on many Tomb Raider titles in the legendary franchise.

Recently, he joined Dundee based gaming studio Tag Games as Audio Director. Throughout his journey, he was inspired by legendary composers / writers such as John Williams, Danny Elfman, Hanz Zimmer, Dianne Warren and Burt Bacharach. His hard work and dedication has led him to become one of the most respected names in the industry and continues to create memorable and immersive audio experiences for players all around the world.
