With the upcoming release of Apex Legends season 7 there feels like no better time to discuss the Competitive scene, with the introduction of a new map and legend, and who can forget meta weapon changes could this be the resurgence of the passion players originally had for the game? Who better to talk to than a pro player himself, I recently had the pleasure of interviewing two-time MVP Tyler Gardner better known as “dezignful” of team Aim Assist to discuss the the team as a whole and the direction he viewed apex legends was going.
How would you guys describe your play style?
“Aggressive, we’re taking every isolated fight we can to secure kill points for a second place, first place is just a bonus.”

“prowler/scout”
Where do you guys see yourself for power rankings as a team?
“Top 5 team North America, top 4 with CLG not qualifying for the latest event”
The new map is said to have 16 poi’s. Do you think that’s healthy for the game to make people fight for their spot and have some early game action?
“I’ve been told that this map is supposed to be made for competitive so I’m super excited to have to relearn rotations and adapt to new play styles. Poi’s are perfect if you look at every map so far they’ve all had 16/17 and I feel like it will be fluid just like the other maps.”
Do you think the race for Predator will be in full swing again with everybody trying to learn the new map and zone pulls?
“This new map will 100% respark the pred grind, everyone and their mothers have posted about grinding for #1 this season”
As a team are you guys still searching for an organization to represent or are you comfortable just doing it on your own and proving it’s possible?
“Definitely would love a Tier 1 org to call home as long as it feels right, if not we’re going to continue marketing Aim Assist and see how far we can go with it!”
As it stands Apex Legends competitive has hit an odd bump like many other games in the Esports scene with the unfortunate arrival of Covid-19 and the inability to host LAN events, but with the release of season 7 a new map and meta game seems like it could be the spark everyone has been waiting for to reignite the passion they originally felt upon the release of the game as whole, not only can this lead to a rebirth in players willing to compete, but this could also peak the interest of many T1 orgs sitting on the sidelines waiting for the right time to sing a F/A team like Aim Assist.
