Up until this time a few months ago, I never heard of iMP Gaming. But they apparently have an impressive array of technical gear that gamers would no doubt benefit from. But they recently sent over their new DLX2+ Multi-Function Charge Stand, which works with both Nintendo Switch and Nintendo Switch 2 accessories.

This is essentially an all-in-one unit that’s meant to sit by your system and make your controllers and other items look spiffy. It can charge multiple controllers in one shot, including Pro Controller 2, and also features LED lighting. That makes it look really nice on a shelf, even when your system is off.

It’s also got practicality built in mind. You can store up to nine Switch or Switch 2 games in a pop-out compartment; and there’s even a stand-up tower to put your headset, should you have one. In fact, that’s the unit’s biggest drawback – it adds height that makes it a bit difficult to put on a mid-sized shelf.

I know storage isn’t an entirely big deal for gamers. But if you want a convenient way to keep your Switch accessories nearby – and with style, mind you – iMP Gaming’s DLX2+ is just the unit for you.

iMP Gaming DLX2+ Is All About the All In One

The first thing I noticed about the DLX2+ was its ease in set-up. Everything is convenient to use right out of the box, and I had things going within a matter of minutes.

As you can see, the unit is very clear on what goes where. You put Pro Controllers in one spot, and JoyCons (or JoyCon 2s) in another. They all line up pretty nicely, and you don’t have to worry about anything falling out. They slide into place rather easily and stay secure until you’re ready to play.

Of course, it holds your main Switch or Switch 2 via the dock as well. That makes this even more all-in-one, which I’m down with.

What’s more, the unit is secure with its stance. This is due to the non-slip feet base on the bottom. This allows it to stay on your shelf, no matter the surface (well, save for carpet, why have carpet on a shelf?). It’s really handy and adds to the overall stability.

I do also like the pop-up compartment that allows you to store nine Switch or Switch 2 cartridges with ease. We all know having to dig your game out of a case can take extra time. But this lets you pick and choose favorites to store – conveniently – for quick play. It’s the next best thing to having multiple games set to go already in your system.

There’s also LED lighting! You can change between seven general colors or five dynamic types, so the thing looks cool even when your system isn’t in use. There’s also a stand for headphones, in case you use them with your Switch or Switch 2.

Overall, this is a very nicely built unit. But how well does it hold up ergonomically? Let’s go for a road test!

The iMP Gaming DLX2+ In Action

First off, turned off, the unit looks wonderful with its light-up modes. Even in a dark room, the warm glow welcomes you to turn on your Switch or Switch 2 at any time. Also, did I mention how great it is that it works with both consoles, and not just exclusively for one? Talk about being something for everyone.

Working, though, you really get what the DLX2+ is all about. Being able to pop in a game and unplug a controller fully charged (without additional cables) is a nice touch. There are also USB ports, so you can plug in additional devices (hey, a phone!) if need be. Its build is rock solid as well.

So are there any negatives? Well, only one really stands out for me, and that’s the headphone storage tower. I like it, but there are two setbacks. The first is, well, most people don’t use headphones. There are those that will plug one into their Switch or Switch 2 for portable play, and that’s great, but they usually have their own stand.

But then there’s the second problem – the height of the storage tower. Because of this, it’s a bit hard to place the iMP Gaming DLX2+ on an average sized shelf. You usually have to reserve it for something higher up. That’s not the end of the world, mind you, but some of us have gaming storage areas that are a bit tight on space. Hardly a deal breaker, but worth keeping in mind.

Is This Stand Right For You?

Again, we know gaming storage isn’t the most important thing on gamers’ minds these days. They got shelves for that, right? But the iMP Gaming DLX2+ is an extraordinary little storage unit for the price. You not only get practical use of all the space, but also some LED lighting that will easily beam up a general gaming room.

Not everything about its design is perfect, but I have a feeling there will be those Switch gamers that absolutely get a kick out of this. And that lighting will definitely perk up a room, tell you what.
