Gunnar: The Black Panther Vibranium Edition – I choose Loyalty

Both the glasses and the case a crafted from the finest materials.

Gunnar Optiks, renowned for their gamer-themed eyewear, just paired up with Marvel. One product from that is Mateo, Black Panther Vibranium Edition glasses.

These glasses seamlessly blend style with functionality. That makes them ideal for anyone who spends long hours in front of screens. That’s a lot us nowadays (right, Gamerhub faithful?).

Drawing inspiration from the Marvel character, the Black Panther glasses sport a sleek black frame accented with subtle purple highlights. Think The Panther Habit sort of touch.

Constructed from titanium, these glasses are both lightweight and incredibly durable. The sprung hinges add a touch of quality and provide extra protection against accidental breakage. Soft rubber nose pads enhance comfort, making the glasses feel almost weightless on your face.

The exceptional build quality ensures that these glasses sit comfortably. Whether you have a narrow or wide face, they adapt to provide a custom-like fit. Even for long wear.

The primary selling point of Gunnar Optiks glasses is their ability to significantly reduce digital eye strain. Equipped with Gunnar’s patented lens technology, they filter out blue light. This is helpful for prolonged sessions.

The lenses list as Legendary by Gunnar. This means that they are high performance. They also have GShield premium lens coating and feature a Propriety Polyamid. They are slightly amber-tinted, which enhances contrast and helps in reducing screen glare.

While it might take a bit of getting used to, the tint is not overly obtrusive and actually improves visual clarity over time. These glasses can block 65% of blue light at 450nm. I won’t discuss the benefits or the science behind blue-blocking glasses. But I will however say that from wearing these at night my sleep schedule. Sleep has improved as well.

The lenses also have a slight magnifying effect, making it easier to see the smaller details.

The lens and the arm both hold subtle branding.

As pictured, the lens and the arm both hold subtle branding.

I am not a glasses person, and as such, they take time to adjust to. However, these were almost seamless in helping me to simply forget about them. They do not pinch the bridge of my nose, nor are they heavy enough to feel. They simply slide on and do their job without interfering with my daily routine.

A few years ago, after a bout of vertigo, I bought two pairs of cheap blue blocker glasses. They blocked blue light just fine. However, they were not very visually appealing.

If I’d known about these glasses then I could have saved myself the ridicule I received from my colleagues.
I have been thoroughly impressed with these glasses, which defy the notion that what’s good for you can’t be stylish. Much like how salads are healthy but often lack flavour, I expected functionality at the expense of aesthetics. However, these glasses shatter that preconception – although I can’t promise I’ll be choosing a salad over a burger anytime soon.

The Black Panther Vibranium Edition ooze quality with their premium materials.

These Mateo, Black Panther Vibranium Edition glasses sell for $129.99 USD (£102.78 GBP). And although pricey, the quality, style and eye health benefits make these glasses worth it.

Included in the price you get, a 2-year warranty. You also get a microfibre bag, a microfibre cleaning cloth, and a hard clamshell case.

For a higher cost, you can also purchase these glasses with your prescription included. That way, glasses wearers don’t have to decide between being able to see and eye health. These are further customisable with lens tints, varying from 65% to 98%. You can even use custom lenses if you prefer.

Gunnar Optiks has a variety of glasses available on their website. These include various other collaborations (If Black Panther isn’t your thing). I fully recommend if you’re considering blue-blocking glasses, that Gunnar Optiks is the way to go.
