A little while ago, we reviewed Retroware’s Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit. And we’re pleased to say it definitely wasn’t “ASS!” In fact, it’s a lot of fun for those of you looking for a throwback to yesterday’s style of gaming. But if the digital version wasn’t enough for you, surprise! You can now get it physically for your classic NES.
Limited Run Games has launched pre-orders for the 8-bit version of, well, Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit. You can either get the standard boxed edition for $69.99 or go all out with the limited edition for just $10 more. Pre-orders are available here, through a collaboration with Mad Cat Studios. As you can see, it comes with quite a bit. (No beer, though.)
If you prefer something a little more, well, modern, no sweat. There are also pre-orders open for the PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions of Nerd. They’re going for $39.99, and expected to ship sometime in early to mid 2026.

“But wait!”, some of you muttered to yourself. “How do I know that the game is right for me? What if it doesn’t turn out to be my speed?” Well, fret not. Along with the previously released Steam demo, you can now try out a demo of Angry Video Game Nerd 8-Bit on Nintendo Switch. Just go here and download to your heart’s content. Remember, it is a mature rated title, so don’t show it to the kids. “ASS!”
